Doe Run Build

Wednesday, March 25, 2009 - Mission Complete! It's time to turn this home over to the new owners! The kitchen counter tops and sink were delivered and installed this week. Appliances were placed. Painting was touched up and some other last minute details were addressed. Yesterday we received final Certificate of Occupancy for this home; this is the final inspection of the home.

Today was final settlement with the bank and the owners began to move in.  "It's so exciting to be moving in! We couldn't be happier with the process to this point and we are looking forward to getting settled, planting in the yard and making this wonderful house our new home." said Sue Hearn.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009 - We have begun the final stretch! We're in the seventh week of this build and progress has been steady. We are still paying attention to detail and this home is going to be beautiful!

Outside this week a large patio was poured in the back of the home off the future screen porch. The siding is now totally complete. The gas tank was buried and the gas lines to the home were hooked up. img_5971_300_01

In the garage the insulation was finished, the drywall is complete and the lighting was installed. The geo-thermal unit is located in the garage of this home and it's pictured here. To learn more about geo-thermal and other energy saving options visit our Energy Star page or you can Contact Us.

Inside, the electric was trimmed out, fans and fixtures were installed. Under cabinet lighting has been installed in the kitchen. The washer and dryer are here and Sean and Lisa have begun painting!

Wednesday, February 25, 2009 - The outside of this home is really coming together.  The railings and another step were added to the front porch this week, the back porch is still under construction, and more siding went on.

As soon as the garage doors are installed the inside of the garage can be insulated and drywalled.

Inside, a large part of the flooring went down and drywall work is underway. The kitchen cabinets will be delivered soon and the kitchen will be installed.

Custom and Extraordinary Options sometimes cause small delays in construction but they are always worth it in the end! Check back next week for another update!

Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - We've had a productive first week at Doe Run. The wells are dug for the geo-thermal heat and air conditioning. Temporary walls, put in place for stability during transfer to the lot, have been removed. Interior doors are being set and the garage and porch foundations were completed.

Also this week the plans for the custom kitchen were finalized. Measurements were taken and the cabinets and counter tops were ordered. "Cabinets can take 4-6 weeks to get in so we like to get them ordered as soon as the house is set." said Debbie Ash, who does most of our custom kitchen designing. When the cabinets come in they will be installed on site and we'll post photos here!

Wednesday, January 21, 2009 - Congratulations to the homeowners of the custom Henlopen Home at Doe Run! Today our first custom home of 2009 was set on it's foundation. "Everything went smoothly. At 8 AM we had a lot with a foundation and by lunch the home was placed, water tight and more than 80% complete." said Trent Collins, owner of Henlopen Homes.

Custom builds are fun. These homeowners picked features from several different floorplans and created a very unique plan of their own. The wide open living space, and split bedroom configuration, allows for privacy when you want it and plenty of entertaining room when you don't.

Set day is always exciting. The homeowners were on site for set day taking pictures and watching their home plans become a reality. "It's so exciting and it's happened so fast!" said Sue Hearn, one of the homeowners.

Some of the extraordinary options of this home include 9' ceilings, handicap accessability and accommodations, a geo-thermal heat and air system, and a custom kitchen.

As we complete this build, we will be posting photos here on the website for you to follow the progress of the build with the homeowners. Over the next few weeks we will be doing finish carpentry, measuring for the kitchen, framing the two car garage, building the front and back porches, and so much more. Stay Tuned!
