Thursday, March 26, 2009 - The front porch is getting its trim and the siding is almost complete. The bonus room above the garage is insulated and the future closets have been framed. This insulation is upgraded to R-28 in the wall and R-43 in the ceiling to comply with energy star standards just like the rest of this home.
The hardwood flooring that will cover the majority of the floors in the home has been delivered. Before it's laid, the hardwood will be given time to acclimate to the environment of the home. This allows for a better fit and reduced cupping and movement once it's in place.
As we complete a home there are usually several inspection processes that occur. If you have a loan, your bank will be sending inspectors periodically to check the process. Also, your county and/or town will be coming to inspect at different stages of construction. Some of the items they inspect are framing, electrical, plumbing, energy and final Certificate of Occupancy. This home passed the framing inspection on the garage and bonus room this week.
